Shervin Pishevar is an angel investor who has seeded more than 60 companies. He recently resigned as the managing director of Investment company, which is a venture capital fund. He is well known in Silicon Valley and made much of his fortune as an early investor in Uber and Airbnb. He has a few significant appointments and awards, including being appointed by Barack Obama to the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. He has worked as an entrepreneurial ambassador as well.

In February 2018, Shervin Pishevar took to Twitter to express concerns and make some ominous predictions about the US economic situation. He does not mix his words as far as finances are concerned. His twitter storm lasted 21 hours and mentioned topics like bonds, bitcoin, and immigration.

Just like clockwork, some of the predictions that he made began to manifest. He began a running commentary discussing the fall of the market and discussed the previous market falls that happened in 1929 and 1987. After just 15 minutes, the Dow went down 300 points. And there was nothing that could be done about it. Shervin Pishevar feels that the market is going to continue to fall, predicting that it will do so by at least 6,000 points in the coming months.

Shervin Pishevar said American companies and the government are trapped in short-term thinking. He says that the infrastructure is in tatters and thinks that financial and government institutions are facing a reckoning of irrelevance.

There are some exceptions to the rule. He mentioned that there are some moonshots that offer to do some good. He specifically mentioned the company that he helped to found. The company is Virgin Hyperloop, which is a company that is working to change transportation with an underground super speed train.

Reading the tweets one by one can be a bit confusing. However, when they are read taking into consideration other views that Shervin Pishevar has expressed, it seems that the main idea is that the US is no longer the only country where citizens have the entrepreneurial spirit. This passion is now global. It is good for the rest of the world, but it will be bad for the US economy.
