Introduction of Virtual Technology in Swimming with Dolphins

A swimming encounter with dolphins is one of the fantastic phenomenon individuals can ever dream of and has highly been condemned by environmentalists as a cruel act. However, a Dutch non-profit organization believes that swimming with dolphins is one of the safest ways for the disabled to enjoy swimming with the incorporation of the immersive advances offered by Virtual Reality (VR). The formation of the new club was termed as a realization of a journey that was started by Marijke Sjollema, an artist. Marijke narrated that she first encounter with a dolphin while swimming at the Mexican coast in 1993.

Marijke explained her first experience as seeing a dark shadow under water and instinctively thought it was a shark. Later on, discovered that the shadow kept following her, and it was then that she realized it was a dolphin. It was at that moment that she learnt to love dolphins. She explained her love for dolphins as a magical feeling that brings about playfulness, innocence, and happiness whenever anyone meets a dolphin. Together with her husband, they devoted their time and resources to enable people to discover their encounter with dolphins.

VR’s handsets were first launched in 2015. Several years later, they went a step further by developing waterproof VR glasses that allow individuals to watch dolphins around them in virtual reality. The primary aim of VR incorporation in dolphin technology was to enable disabled people to enjoy swimming with dolphins. Apart from that, the sophisticated technology provided an alternative to dolphin-assisted therapy. This method has been proven successful since 2016 and has been shown to have noticeable benefits. It was also revealed that 82 percent of the company’s clients feel relaxed by using the VR technology.
