Let’s be honest here. There is no better feeling than a dive in a pool on a hot and humid summer day. In fact, in my opinion, it is one of the most fun summer activities one can engage in. All ages love it, especially the kids. With it being such a great activity, many people still don’t know the added benefits it provides. In this article, I am going to be going over some of these benefits and telling you why you need to implement swimming into your lifestyle ASAP.
1. It builds endurance
One of the main things you lose when you age is your ability to keep up like you did in your youth. Swimming combats this by building endurance. Some simple exercises you can implement include treading water for ten minutes or even performing a quick ten-minute freestyle lap. Whatever you choose, you will build endurance and you will feel more energized throughout the day because of it.
2. Builds up your cardiovascular system
When you age, you are more susceptible to cardiovascular disease and coronary artery disease. Swimming prevents this by keeping your blood flowing. This has to do with your breathing techniques while you propel through the water and all of your muscles that you are engaging. All in all, swimming is a great cardiovascular exercise and I would highly recommend you implement it into your workout routine.
All in all, swimming is a fun and unique cardiovascular activity. It keeps you healthy and it isn’t boring.
